“Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes, but when you look back everything is different…” C. S. Lewis

I am seeing solid steady improvement in the real estate market. I much prefer steady improvement over the roller coaster ride we have been on for many years.

The June 2015 Northeast Florida Association of Realtors (NEFAR) market stats show steady improvement in pricing, closings and pending sales. The average sales price in June is $224,387 which is an increase of 6% over the June 2014 price of $210,846. The year to date increases were 4% in 2014 and 6% in 2015. Davidson staffer Cindy Vaughn wears many hats—Accounting Manager, HR Manager—but a hat many people might not know she wears is as Author.

In fact, Cindy, who has been with Davidson Realty for more than 16 years, was recently awarded first place in the Wordhaus Fiction Writing Contest! Cindy’s story, “Dirty Little Secret,” won in the Thriller category. She was kind enough to answer a few questions about her writing.

Tell us a bit about your experiences as a writer. I have always loved to write. I have one poem published called “Solitaire.” It was published in the “National Anthology of Poetry.” I wrote a children’s book called “Pimple the Pelican” for my grandson and self-published that. My dream is to get my novel published. I am now in the revision process of it. I finished it about a year ago and pitched it to ten agents. I was so excited when I received a response from Sue Grafton’s agent requesting to read my full manuscript. After five days of nail-biting suspense, she told me she couldn’t connect with my main character. She gave me some great advice though, and I have heeded it. Hopefully, with this revision, I will be able to find an agent and get my book published. It is called “Death’s Whisper.” Read more
