Davidson Realty, Inc. recently partnered with Habitat for Humanity of St. Augustine/ St. Johns County to plan and design Canopy Oaks, a newly proposed Habitat neighborhood in West St. Augustine with eight townhomes and 11 single-family homes.

The neighborhood will feature home clusters designed around shared driveways, a new approach to planning and building Habitat communities, which helps to utilize land efficiently and reduce costs.

The planning and site design was provided pro bono by Davidson for the block-wide site, located on Broach Street between Volusia Street and North St. Johns Street. As part of the West Augustine Overlay District and Economic Development area, the site is currently targeted as part of a larger revitalization effort.

“The district is looking to improve living conditions and encourage property development that results in better economic progress, diverse uses, enhanced resident opportunities and a lively and safe neighborhood,” said Rick Pariani of the Davidson Companies.

Currently, the neighborhood’s infrastructure is being implemented in order to begin the permitting process later this year. Alia Reimer, Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity of St. Augustine/ St. Johns County, says the organization is aiming to build six homes per year.

“We are actively looking for qualified families to fill these homes, as well as those homes we will be building throughout St. Johns County in the meantime,” said Reimer. “Davidson has been a great help in getting this moving along.”
