A Promise to Serve – Providence Homes Supports Davidson Cares Clay Day

January 14, 2022

 |

For the past six years, Providence Homes has generously supported Davidson Cares Clay Day with the highest level of sponsorship. The Davidson Companies have a long history with Providence Homes as they were a preferred builder in several neighborhoods in World Golf Village as early as 2000. “I love the generous hearts at Providence Homes! They do so much for the community. In the past, they have built a “Home from the Heart” benefiting Builders Care and they are currently building their seventh Homes for Hope project in Kettering at eTown,” shares Sherry Davidson, President of Davidson Realty. “We have so much respect for Providence Homes and how they treat their employees and customers.”

Providence Homes is an award-winning home builder based right here in Jacksonville with a promise to provide a superior home building experience from start to finish. As one of Jacksonville’s only 100% ENERGY STAR® certified home builders, Providence Homes is committed to building each home with the same attention to detail as they would with their own.  Since becoming an ENERGY STAR® partner, Providence Homes has built more than 1,800 ENERGY STAR® homes which have helped Jacksonville families save more than $5 million in energy bills. With nearly thirty years of experience, Providence Homes has not only made a tremendous impact on the local community, but has helped others internationally through Homes for Hope, Hope International, and New Story. Providence Homes is currently 80% complete on a community of 131 homes in El Salvador.  Davidson Realty is honored to have the support of  Providence Homes as they continue to make a difference in the Northeast Florida community.

“We are very proud to have helped Davidson Cares achieve their goal of $75,000 this year for three incredible local charities. This is the sixth year we have been a major sponsor in the Clay Day shoot and we continue to give back to help prioritize the needs right here in our own backyard. I can’t say enough about the work that Builders Care, St. Augustine Youth Services (SAYS), and Investing in Kids (INK!) is doing for those in need in Jacksonville and St. Augustine. We are grateful to Davidson Cares for organizing this event each year,” shares Sean Junker, President and COO Providence Homes.

Over the past five years, Davidson Cares Clay Day has raised more than $340,000 to support charities in need because of generous sponsors like Providence Homes. To learn more about Providence Homes visit their website at www.providencehomesinc.com or call (904) 447-0724.

Northeast Florida Real Estate Market Update

November 19, 2021

 |

“Gratitude can turn common days into thanksgiving, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.” -William Arthur Ward

I rely on the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors (NEFAR) market statistics in my analysis each month. NEFAR has changed the company providing the statistics and the information is now interactive and allows you to choose property type, County, or region. Go to NEFAR.com and click on the market stats tab to check it out.

The median sales price of $310,000 is up 17.8% from last October, but unchanged from last month. Of the closings in October, 28.5% closed over list price. This is up 103.2% from last October, but down 7.3% from last month.

The inventory of homes for sale continues to be extremely low. There were 4,270 active properties for sale which is down 31.1% from last October and 7.9% from last month. The 1.4 months of inventory available is also down 25.8% year over year and 9.5% from last month.

The Northeast Florida real estate market may see smaller price increases and fewer multiple offers, but there is still a strong imbalance between buyer demand and homes available. It is still a seller’s market.

I wanted to share some interesting information from the 2021 National Association of Realtors (NAR) Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers. Jessica Lautz, Vice President of Demographics and Behavioral Insights at NAR, says both buyers and sellers “have been driven by the desire to be close to family and friends, as well as the need for a larger home” during the pandemic.

Of the sellers who also became buyers, many traded up to bigger, more expensive, and often newer homes, with 46% purchasing a larger home and 28% one of the same size. In the past years, convenience to work and affordability had ranked as top factors for reasons to move.

The pandemic likely spurred occupants to shorten their homestay, as tenure in the home decreased to eight years from 10 years, according to the report – the largest single-year change in home tenure since NAR began collecting such data. Historically, tenure in the home has been six to seven years, but it increased to nine to 10 years following the Great Recession.

It will be interesting to see how remote work opportunities play out in the future. It seems like employees and companies are still figuring out the new rules and how that will affect home sizes and locational choices.

I want to express my gratitude for your friendship and support in 2021. Davidson Cares raised $75,000 at our Clay Day thanks to all the generous people in northeast Florida. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

Davidson Cares is committed to supporting organizations in Northeast Florida that focus on enriching children and families. This year, thanks to generous sponsors, volunteers, and participants, Davidson Cares Clay Day 2021 raised more than $75,000 for three organizations to continue their incredible work for our First Coast community.

“The 2021 Davidson Cares Clay Day was the most successful in our six-year history. We sold out forty sporting clays teams and had fourteen beginner skeet shooters. The sponsors and shooter’s generosity enabled us to help so many in our community through Investing in Kids, Builders Cares, and St. Augustine Youth Services.,” shared Davidson Realty President Sherry Davidson.

Congratulations to this year’s winners which included: Hoodz Team (1st Place – North Course), Hutson Companies (2nd Place – North Course), HB Next (3rd Place – North Course), Steve Merill’s Team (1st Place – South Course), Thomas May Construction (2nd Place – South Course), and JCTS Club Team (3rd Place – South Course). Additionally, congratulations to Cooler & Cocktail Raffle winner Kaitlin McCurdy and Concerts for a Cause Raffle winner Rick Wood.

Davidson Cares Clay Day has raised more than $345,000 over the last six years for organizations dedicated to supporting and uplifting Northeast Florida residents. This year Davidson Cares donated $25,000 to St. Augustine Youth Services, Investing in Kids!, and Builders Care.

St. Augustine Youth Services (SAYS) has been serving Florida’s at-risk youth since 1989. SAYS provides coaching, counseling, and care centered around family-style therapeutic group homes and outpatient community services. Over the past thirty years, SAYS has provided treatment for thousands of children who have suffered abuse or neglect. Their programs bring crucial mental health services to hundreds of young people in St. Johns, Flagler, Volusia, and Putnam county.

Investing in Kids! (INK!) help fund innovative programs and classroom resources for St. Johns County public school students. Established in 1994, INK! has inspired the greater community to invest in education. The funds raised from Davidson Cares Clay Day will support their Five Learning Years (FLY) and Take Stock in Children programs. FLY was developed to ensure children are prepared for success when starting kindergarten by providing educational intervention. Take Stock in Children is a statewide program that offers students college scholarships, mentoring, and hopes for a better future. INK! is the exclusive umbrella agency for this program in St. Johns County.

Builders Care is a faith-based nonprofit organization that provides little to no cost contracting services to those in need of critical home repairs. Their mission is to provide quality home reconstruction to those who would otherwise be unable to afford it. Since 2001, Builders Care has assisted more than six hundred families totaling more than $6.5 million worth of construction to Jacksonville’s neediest families. Builders Care enlists volunteers and construction professionals to make homes handicapped-accessible, repair roofs, siding and leaks, and any other necessary repairs.

These organizations are changing lives in our community. Davidson Cares Clay Day is proud to have raised more than $75,000 for these worthy causes and Davidson Cares is grateful for the continued support from their network of partners and friends who have helped make an impact when our community needs it the most!
