Davidson Cares Clay Day: Focus on Take Stock in Children

The 3rd Annual Davidson Cares Clay Day is fast approaching and we are thrilled to donate a portion of the proceeds from the event and supporting raffles to Take Stock in Children (TSIC).

 

Since 1998, TSIC has been under the umbrella of INK! (Investing In Kids), which is the only direct support organization of the St. Johns County School District.

 

“Local schools benefit immeasurably from INK! and its programs like Take Stock in Children, which helps kids overcome difficult odds and pave the way to college,” said Sherry Davidson, President of Davidson Realty and INK! Board Member.

 

What is Take Stock in Children?

TSIC is a nonprofit organization working throughout Florida to provide opportunities for a post-secondary education in an effort to break the cycle of poverty for low-income, academically qualified students.

Davidson Realty agent Erin Mount steers donation effort for returning sailors

Amid her busy schedule as a Davidson Realtor, Erin Mount recently organized a donation drive for single sailors of Patrol Squadron 45 (VP-45) returning from deployment. It all started when a friend asked Erin for a donation to help returning sailors. She jumped at the opportunity to help—even seeking donations from others to maximize the effort.

 

 

Friends, local businesses and attendees of the monthly World Golf Village Networking Group all contributed to the drive. Agents and staff at Davidson also stepped in to help, including Gail George, Terri Apodaca, Liz Pappaceno, Ron Savarese, Mirtha Barzaga, Steve Rodriguez, Ethel Henry, Rebecca Schaffer, Kim Keith, Andrea Gallagher, Mattie Zebendon, Jim Davidson, Rochelle Richardson and Troy Silhan.

 

 

“Everybody was more than willing to participate,” said Erin. “I purchased the baskets and local businesses and individuals volunteered to fill them.”

Davidson Cares Clay Day: Focus on St. Augustine Youth Services

We are already preparing for this year’s sport shooting event, the 3rd Annual Davidson Cares Clay Day! This year’s event will directly benefit St. Augustine Youth Services (SAYS), Take Stock in Children and Five Learning Years (FLY).

 

The services these organizations provide are vital to Northeast Florida’s children. We want to give more information about each charity to let Clay Day participants know exactly where their contributions are going. This month, we’re focusing on SAYS.

 

What is SAYS?

SAYS is a non-profit organization that offers services to children in need and provides a safe, therapeutic environment for boys who have suffered from severe abuse and neglect. Many of the kids they help are referred by the Department of Children & Families or other welfare agencies.

 

SAYS was established in 1989 and has helped thousands of First Coast kids. In 2017 alone, the organization served 800 youth in St. Johns, Flagler, Volusia and Putnam counties!

Jaguars tickets & fishing charter among Davidson Cares charity raffle prizes

In association with our annual sport shooting event on October 18, Davidson Cares is running three raffle contests.

 

Jaguars Package – Sponsored by Dreamfinders Homes, the Jaguars Package includes 30 tickets to the Jags vs. Colts game on December 2 at TIAA Bank Field in Jacksonville. The package also includes two parking passes in Lot V for pre-game tent tailgating and Publix gift cards worth $125.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Fishing Package – Courtesy of TECO, the Fishing Package includes a half-day fishing charter and lunch with Captain Leon Dana, as well as three Costa halyard retainers, three Buff multifunctional headwear bandannas and three Huk performance fishing hats.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Cooler & Cocktail Package – Arthur Rutenberg Homes presents the Cooler & Cocktail Package, including a 65-quart YETI cooler and an assortment of 14 liquors (between .75 and 1.75 liters each) from Broudy’s Fine Wine & Spirits. Davidson Realty Spotlight: Shirley Barber

Wandering through the offices of Davidson Realty, it is easy to find professionals with a wide range of talents and hobbies. On a given day, you may meet a mountain climber, author, philanthropist, world traveler, fitness competitor or artist.

 

You may also run into Shirley Barber, who boasts an incredible passion of her own. For 13 years, Shirley has served as Master Gardener for the University of Florida extension program IFAS (Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, or simply UF/IFAS). She is also a gardening teacher, speaker and consultant for other organizations and schools throughout Florida.

 

Shirley’s dedication is remarkable by any standard. She has volunteered more than 15,000 hours in the past 13 years, topping 1,700 hours during the past two years alone.
