Meet The Amazing Charities Davidson Cares Supports!

October 5, 2023

 |

Davidson Cares is excited to host their eighth annual clay day fundraiser, which has been renamed this year from Davidson Cares Clay Day to Jim Davidson’s Annual Clay Day, after the recent passing of the beloved patriarch of the Davidson Family, Jim Davidson. The event will take place at the Jacksonville Clay Target Sports on Thursday, October 19, 2023. This annual sports shooting event has raised more than $577,785 for local charities that support youth-based organizations throughout Northeast Florida.

“We’re so honored to live and work in a community that supports our charitable endeavors, like Clay Day,” says Sherry Davidson, president of Davidson Cares. “This is such a fun event, and the funds we raise go directly into organizations that support, protect and uplift some of our most vulnerable neighbors. It’s also an opportunity to celebrate my husband, Jim’s, life. We miss him every day.”

Clay Day begins with registration and lunch from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Shooting starts at 2 p.m. Both new and experienced shooters are welcome. For a minimum donation of $400 per shooter, participants can shoot 100 sporting clay targets. Those new to shooting can shoot 50 skeet in a safe and comfortable atmosphere under the guidance of an instructor for a minimum donation of $300 per shooter.

This year’s Clay Day is proud to support the following charities:

St. Augustine Youth Services (SAYS) is a non-profit organization that serves at-risk youth through various programs, including coaching, counseling and care in family-style therapeutic group homes and outpatient community services. Opened in 1989 in downtown St. Augustine, SAYS now serves three counties: St. Johns, Flagler and Putnam.

Investing in Kids! (INK!) is the only direct support organization supporting the teachers and students of St. Johns County School District. The organization is comprised of dedicated community members who provide support through mentorship, volunteering and donations. For every dollar donated to INK! $.82 goes back into programming.

Builders Care is a faith-based nonprofit construction contractor that provides affordable to no-cost construction services to the elderly, disabled and other nonprofits in Northeast Florida to build a better habitat for all. Builders Care was founded in 2001 and, to date, has rehabilitated over 600 homes and provided $6.5 million in construction assistance.

Port in the Storm Homeless Youth Center assists one of the region’s most vulnerable populations, homeless youth. Port in the Storm is a safe place off the streets for homeless/unaccompanied youth in crisis. Caring adults provide stability, hope and a path to a successful future through Positive Youth Development programming. The Center offers day drop-in assistance with basic needs, life and job skills, housing assistance and more. They also have 16 beds for unsheltered youth needing a safe space.

Hope is Restored is a faith-inspired organization that rehabilitates and empowers survivors of human trafficking and enslavement. They work in the community to raise situational awareness, victim recognition and overall understanding of the dangers of human trafficking. Hope is Restored focuses on four pillars: awareness, education, rescue and restoration.

Homes for Hope works locally to attack poverty globally. By working with building partners throughout the United States and Canada, Homes for Hope has built a North American network of industry professionals who work together to construct and sell homes to raise funds to fight poverty.

Five Star Veterans Center honors the sacrifice of the country’s combat heroes by providing the services and support they need to return to and succeed in civilian life. The center is a stable place where veterans can reside and receive 24-hour mental health assistance, working towards healing and peace.

“We couldn’t do this without our wonderful sponsors,” says Davidson. “The contributions we receive from companies like The Hutson Companies, Iventure, Providence Homes and Riverside Homes really help drive this event. We can’t express our appreciation enough!”

Jim Davidson’s Annual Clay Day is on Thursday, October 19, at Jacksonville Clay Target Sports, 12125 New Berlin Road in Jacksonville. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. The event will be held rain or shine. To register to shoot, donate or inquire about sponsorship, please visit our event webpage.
