Thanksgiving drive brings in more than 200 bags of donations for struggling families

Last weekend, generous residents, customers and friends took time out of their busy weekend to donate groceries for my annual Thanksgiving drive at Heritage Landing!

More than 200 bags of donations were brought in addition to palates of drinks, household cleaners, paper towels and much more (in fact, this photo was taken just halfway through the drive!)

All donations went straight to the Emergency Services & Homeless Coalition of St. Johns County. The non-profit helps struggling families get back on their feet through food redistribution, clothing donations, neighborhood watch services and assistance accessing Medicaid, disability insurance and other resources. The Coalition also focuses on creating stability for the kids of its families with tutoring, after-school snacks, computer training, recreational activities and summer camps.

I want to thank each and every person who took the time and expense to donate!

If you weren’t able to donate to my Thanksgiving drive, the second of my two yearly donation drives is coming very soon. On December 15, I will be hosting my Holiday Food & Toy Drive at the King & Bear amenity center parking lot from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.

We need new, unwrapped toys in addition to non-perishables like canned goods (beans, vegetables, noodles, soups, ham, tuna, etc.), cooking oils, condiments, plastic bags and wrap, aluminum foil, paper goods (towels, napkins) and household cleaners.

The Holiday drive is co-sponsored by The Neighborhoods of World Golf Village, King & Bear and Honours Golf.

The King & Bear amenity center is located at 2604 Oak Grove Avenue. For more information about donating, contact me at (904) 501-1830 or mbarzaga@davidsonrealtyinc.com.
