Davidson Realty’s Christopher Della Rocco, a.k.a. Rocco, is going to new heights to support kids in need—literally. He is currently training to climb to the summit of Tanzania’s Mt. Kilimanjaro on New Year’s Day 2016 in support of Tim Tebow Foundation‘s mission to improve the lives of children through outreach and events.

The father of two was also inspired to show his own kids they can accomplish anything and chose the mountain based on another climber’s experience. “I knew someone that climbed Kilimanjaro about five years ago. I remember looking at the photos and thinking how cool it would be to do something like that someday. Then you realize that ‘someday’ never comes unless you make it happen,” Rocco said.

Rocco will be taking the six-day Machame Route with a group to climb Kilimanjaro, which is the tallest mountain in Africa and the highest freestanding mountain in the world at 19,340 ft.

He has been actively training for more than two months and has already lost 15 lbs. “I do a ridiculous amount of cardio and wear an elevation mask that simulates higher altitudes. I have a system in place that will increase my workouts every month,” Rocco said.

Rocco is currently raising funds for his climb with a goal of $5,000 before he ascends. So far, he has raised close to $1,800.
