It’s been a banner year for Davidson Cares, which recently culminated with the presentation of $30,000 in grants to several local schools. Congrats to grant recipients Mill Creek Elementary School, Wards Creek Elementary School, Palencia Elementary School and Pacetti Bay Middle School!

We earned $15,000 through fundraising efforts throughout the 2014-2015 school year, which was matched by Investing In Kids (INK), formerly known as St. Johns County Education Foundation, through its grant matching program, reaching $30,000.

“Our gratitude goes out to all sponsors and supporters as well as the great people at INK,” said Davidson Realty President Sherry Davidson. “Their matching program made this the most successful year yet for Davidson Cares.”

Each school received $7,500 based on principal-submitted grant requests. Mill Creek plans to use the funds to maintain a teacher training program focused on literacy, including instruction from renowned literacy expert Debbie Miller. Wards Creek will implement the funds into its teacher development program based on “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey. Pacetti Bay’s grant is also designated for its teacher development program. Palencia will utilize the funds to purchase new science and literacy materials.

Sherry said, “All of these schools are really focused on working to meet new state curriculum standards and we are thrilled we can help them do that.” Davidson Realty is a platinum sponsor of INK and Sherry Davidson serves on the INK Board of Directors.
