Davidson Realty Ramps it Up

DSCN0177I recently challenged my colleagues at Davidson Realty to join me in a project for RAMP IT UP – a Northeast Florida Association of Realtors’ (NEFAR) signature project  in conjunction with The Housing Partnership of Northeast Florida to build wheelchair ramps for disabled members of our community that are confined to a wheelchair.  I was thrilled that 11 of our office associates, including owners Jim and Sherry Davidson, decided to join me at 8:30 on a crisp morning on the north side of Jacksonville to build the largest ramp of the year for the partnership.

Most of us started the day by learning the proper way to use a speed square, to measuring and cutting the wood boards on the table saw with perfection.  Throughout the 8 hour project, I enjoyed the team work and the camaraderie that I shared with my fellow co-workers. Along with the laughs and mishaps, I was overwhelmed with gratitude and with an amazing sense of accomplishment. The feeling of working with your hands and building a structure and knowing that your finished product will enable this individual to easily access their home – is so rewarding.

Even if some of my peers think that I was the nail gun guru; the day was completed with the amazement of Mrs. Alston and her ability to easily maneuver down the 50 foot ramp.  I am proud to be a part of Davidson Realty and their commitment to our Northeast Florida community.

    Suzy,
Thank you for getting us invloved in such a wonderful project. Every member of our team gave 100 percent and had fun in the process. Have you asked Santa to bring you a nail gun?
