Davidson Cares Clay Day: Enriching Lives in Northeast Florida

Davidson Cares is proud to support Northeast Florida organizations that are committed to enriching the lives of families and children. Thanks to generous sponsors, volunteers, and participants, Davidson Cares Clay Day 2022 raised more than $101,000 for five organizations to continue their incredible work for our First Coast community 

 

“Davidson Cares Clay Day 2022 was truly remarkable and the most successful in our seven years of hosting this event. Our team spots sold out very quickly. We had forty-eight sporting clay teams and seven beginner skeet shooting teams. Overall, we had 185 participants and fifteen volunteers who helped make the day so special and together with our sponsors ensured we were able to make an impact in our community through Investing in Kids!, Builders Cares, St. Augustine Youth Services, Hope is Restored, and Port in the Storm,” shares Davidson Realty President, Sherry Davidson. 

 

Congratulations to this year’s winners which included: Hoodz Team (1st Place – North Course), Vallencourt Construction (2nd Place – North Course), Bird Dog (3rd Place – North Course), The Hutson Companies (1st Place – South Course), Steve Merrill Team (2nd Place – South Course), and Thomas May Construction (3rd Place – South Course). Marshal Banks and Julie Sowell, both from the Hoodz Team, were the High Overall Male and Female shooters on the North Course, respectively. On the South Course, Joe Lentz from the Hutson Companies team was the High Overall Male shooter, and Brooke Hutson also from the second Hutson Companies team was the High Overall Female shooter. Additionally, Dianne Roberts with Magnum Painting Services, Inc. won the Cooler and Cocktail raffle and Doug Wenzel won the shotgun raffle. 

 

Davidson Cares Clay Day has raised more than $378,000 over the last seven years for organizations dedicated to supporting and uplifting Northeast Florida residents. This year Davidson Cares donated $40,000 to Builders Cares, $20,000 to Port in the Storm, $20,000 to Hope is Restored, $10,000 to St. Augustine Youth Services, and three scholarships, totaling $11,250, to Investing in Kids! Take Stock in Children program. The three scholarships were given in the name of Vallencourt Construction, Providence Homes, and Riverside Homes. 

 

These organizations are truly changing lives in our community. Davidson Cares Clay Day: Changing Lives in Northeast Florida

Davidson Cares is committed to supporting organizations in Northeast Florida that focus on enriching children and families. This year, thanks to generous sponsors, volunteers, and participants, Davidson Cares Clay Day 2021 raised more than $75,000 for three organizations to continue their incredible work for our First Coast community. 

 

“The 2021 Davidson Cares Clay Day was the most successful in our six-year history. We sold out forty sporting clays teams and had fourteen beginner skeet shooters. The sponsors and shooter’s generosity enabled us to help so many in our community through Investing in Kids, Builders Cares, and St. Augustine Youth Services.,” shared Davidson Realty President Sherry Davidson. 

 

Congratulations to this year’s winners which included: Hoodz Team (1st Place – North Course), Hutson Companies (2nd Place – North Course), HB Next (3rd Place – North Course), Steve Merill’s Team (1st Place – South Course), Thomas May Construction (2nd Place – South Course), and JCTS Club Team (3rd Place – South Course). Additionally, congratulations to Cooler & Cocktail Raffle winner Kaitlin McCurdy and Concerts for a Cause Raffle winner Rick Wood. 

 

Davidson Cares Clay Day has raised more than $345,000 over the last six years for organizations dedicated to supporting and uplifting Northeast Florida residents. This year Davidson Cares donated $25,000 to St. Augustine Youth Services, Investing in Kids!, and Builders Care. 

 

St. Augustine Youth Services (SAYS) has been serving Florida’s at-risk youth since 1989. SAYS provides coaching, counseling, and care centered around family-style therapeutic group homes and outpatient community services. Over the past thirty years, SAYS has provided treatment for thousands of children who have suffered abuse or neglect. Their programs bring crucial mental health services to hundreds of young people in St. Johns, Flagler, Volusia, and Putnam county. 

 

Investing in Kids! (INK!) help fund innovative programs and classroom resources for St. Johns County public school students. Established in 1994, INK! has inspired the greater community to invest in education. The funds raised from Davidson Cares Clay Day will support their Five Learning Years (FLY) and Take Stock in Children programs. FLY was developed to ensure children are prepared for success when starting kindergarten by providing educational intervention. Take Stock in Children is a statewide program that offers students college scholarships, mentoring, and hopes for a better future. INK! is the exclusive umbrella agency for this program in St. Johns County. 

 

Builders Care is a faith-based nonprofit organization that provides little to no cost contracting services to those in need of critical home repairs. Their mission is to provide quality home reconstruction to those who would otherwise be unable to afford it. Since 2001, Builders Care has assisted more than six hundred families totaling more than $6.5 million worth of construction to Jacksonville’s neediest families. Builders Care enlists volunteers and construction professionals to make homes handicapped-accessible, repair roofs, siding and leaks, and any other necessary repairs.

Davidson Cares Welcomes Four New Board Members

Davidson Cares has dedicated nearly a decade to supporting and enriching children throughout Northeast Florida. With the help of the generous and gracious First Coast community, Davidson Cares has raised more than $260,685 for programs to help strengthen families and kids through fundraisers, events, raffles, grants, and community activities.

 

Davidson Cares is proud to welcome four new board members to help further the incredible efforts of this organization. “Davidson Cares is thrilled to welcome these new talents to our team. We are delighted to continue raising money for incredible programs for children and their families,” shares Davidson Realty President, Sherry Davidson.

 

Mirtha Barzaga

Mirtha Barzaga is recognized as one of Davidson Realty’s top real estate agents, both in superior service and production. She launched her business at the height of the economic recession to help customers facing hardship to navigate the real estate process. Thanks to her dedication and eagerness to learn, it was not long before Mirtha’s business took off. Today, Mirtha is regarded as one of Northeast Florida’s premier real estate agents.

Giving back has been a constant throughout Mirtha’s career. She serves as a supporting sponsor for Davidson Cares and Nease High School’s Panther Pride Marching Band and NJROTC. Mirtha also serves on Wards Creek Elementary School’s Advisory Council. Each holiday season, she hosts two food drives to support the Emergency Services & Homeless Coalition of St. Johns County.

In the workplace, Mirtha dedicates her time to Davidson Realty’s mentoring program to help other agents achieve success in real estate.

 

 

Sally Jaudon

Sally Jaudon, along with her husband Tom Jaudon, own Leigh Insurance Agency in St. Augustine, Florida.  Sally started in the Agency as a CSR managing accounts and now holds the position of Vice President/Business Manager overseeing the day to day operations including marketing, growth & accounting. Sally and her team are passionate about providing service to the St. Augustine community and building relationships with the customers at Leigh Insurance, which was founded nearly thirty years ago in 1992. Since Sally has assumed her position, the Agency has been working not only to provide service to current clients, but to also engage in community involvement and educate those who are new to the area about the importance of insurance in Florida. Sally enjoys working alongside her family in the Agency, and outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, sports & her two dogs.

 

 

Erik Wilson

Erik is the husband of Ingrid, his high school sweetheart, and father of four. Erik is a follower of Jesus. He works for Riverside Homes and Wood Development as CFO and obtained his Masters in Accounting from Florida State with an emphasis in taxation. He also graduated from Asbury Seminary in 2017 with a Masters in Marriage and Family Counseling. He has spent twenty years in real estate development and accounting and his faith has led him to walk alongside others in times of need and struggles; hoping to help them lead a life not yet lived.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Steve Merrill

Steve Merrill is a Director at Bank of America and is a member of the Client Advocacy and Experience team.  The Client Advocacy and Experience team partners with Sales and Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in structuring and delivering complex loan solutions for clients.  In addition they identify end to end process, service and experience gaps and champion solutions appropriately.  Steve joined Merrill Lynch in 1992 and has held numerous positions up and through the acquisition by Bank of America.  Steve attended Bishop Kenny High School in Jacksonville Florida, and Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida.
