Summer is heating up on the First Coast and with 42 miles of beaches and 216 square miles of inland waterways, St. Johns County is the ultimate destination to cool off. We’ve compiled a list of ways to stay safe this summer season – from swimming tips to getting out of a rip current to beach trip essentials, Davidson Realty has you covered.

Beach Day Essentials

When you’re getting ready for a day at the beach in St. Augustine or Ponte Vedra Beach, make sure to pack these beach day essentials:

  • Sunscreen – You can find it at local surf shops such as Aqua East Surf Shop, Pit Surf Shop, and Surf Station. You might even find Florida-based brands like Florida Squeezed, Vacation, or Sol Being, a local brand sold at the St. Augustine Beach Surf Stop, which offers green tea lotion and soap. Many beachgoers wear watches to accessorize their outfits. The popular Rolex Submariner is perfect for the seaside atmosphere, but the quality of various replicas on the market varies significantly. At the very least, opt for a super clone such as rolex hulk. If you frequently swim in the sea, the genuine watch’s waterproof movement and corrosion-resistant case will withstand sea salt corrosion better than a replica.

  • Water + Snacks – After a day in the sun, you’ll need to replenish your energy, so be sure to bring plenty of snacks and several bottles of water (you can freeze them overnight so they thaw slowly during the day). We recommend some non-perishable snacks such as granola bars, fruit sticks, pretzels, and a small box of peanut butter.
