10 Things I learned at Lift: The Social Commerce Summit

Last week, Alayna Oram and I journeyed to Atlanta to attend Lift: the Social Commerce Summit in hopes of bringing home all kinds of great new social media and marketing ideas for Davidson Realty and our Jacksonville Realtors. Not only did we come home with staggering statistics about the use of social media AND got some awesome new ideas, we even had a little time to enjoy dinner at a Top Chef’s restaurant (Woodfire Grill and IT’S AMAZING)! All and all this trip was a success!

We had a full day of learning from an impressive statistician from Wharton Interactive Media Initiative to one of the nation’s leading innovators in digital advertising and optimization. There was a lot of interaction, learning, and fun going on all day long. I’d like to share some cool things we learned:

• We all know that people buy across multiple channels. For example, consumers use catalogs, the internet, and will walk into your store to shop and purchase your product. But, did you know the channel in which you acquire your customer shows you the quality of your customer?
• 88% of people use social media to make business decisions
• Customers want how tos, to connect with someone like them, and to save money!
• One of the biggest mistakes you can make in social media is assuming that activity = progress. You can’t measure your success on Facebook just by seeing how many “fans” or “likes” you have. You need to look at content. Are people interacting on your page about your product or not?
• If Facebook were a country it would be the world’s 3rd largest.
• US Dept of Education study revealed that online students out performed those receiving face to face instruction
• Every minute 24 hours of video is uploaded to YouTube
• 25% of search results for the world’s top 20 largest brands are links to user-generated content
• 78% of consumers trust peer recommendations. Only 14% trust ads.
• Facebook tops Google for weekly traffic in the US

Obviously, I’m not going to give away everything! We did have a great time though and would love to keep attending these types of events to push Davidson Realty, Inc. and Relay Marketing, Inc. forward!

Davidson Hits the Road!

DSC_0110There has been a lot of restructuring going on lately in this St. Augustine FL real estate office and we couldn’t be happier about it! We are really excited about our new and improved sales meetings on Tuesday mornings. The agents are getting more involved, we are team building, celebrating hard work, congratulating each other, and having fun! And, of course, we are learning all about Northeast Florida real estate.

To help get more “hands on” we’ve decided that once a month, the last Tuesday of the month, we’re taking our party on the road to see and learn all we can about our area. So far we’ve seen the beautiful Lennar, David Weekley Homes, Taylor Morrison, and CornerStone Homes’ models in Nocatee and August 31st we are setting out to make Aberdeen home for a couple hours.

Aberdeen is full of great properties and builders. Have you had the chance to check out the community? There is so much going on there that you might not have seen. We are starting off at the Drees Homes’ model and then exploring what Richmond American, DR Horton, Holder Johnson, and Mercedes Homes’ have to offer. If you are interested in the CR 210 area, any one of our Jacksonville Realtors can show you around town! Read more

Davidson Realty Shares Stories of Coming to America

american-flagAt the Davidson Companies we have a unique, diverse team of professionals who work together as a team, sharing their collective experiences.  In honor of Independence Day, at our weekly sales meeting of staff and agents, five individuals from Columbia, Cuba, Germany and England shared their stories of “coming to America”.

Carol VonRabenstein from Columbia, Ed Gil from Cuba, Mirtha Barzaga from Cuba, Jurgen “Jerry” May from Germany and Vanessa Cunningham from England all described the journey that brought them to America.  We were all “moved” in more ways than one, of the hardships that some of them endured and had an overwhelming sense of respect for the tenacity, strength, fortitude and resilience it took for them to leave their home and come to a completely different country. One thing rang true in all five cases; they were so thankful to have made the decision to come to the US.  They are all now American citizens and they love our country as much as if they had been born here.

As our group listened to and contemplated the international stories, we realized, that sometimes perhaps we take for granted how lucky and blessed we are to live in such a wonderful country.

Sherry Pic“Ability is what you’re capable of doing. Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it.” ~Raymond Chandler

This quote rings true to me. In fact, its points have been proven to me again and again throughout my career. I think of it now as I assume the sales management responsibilities for our company and I couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity. Over the last few months, I’ve been working more closely with several agents, providing training, coaching and general support. It’s been so energizing. Hopefully, for those agents as well. Dottie, Jennifer, Ted and the rest of the team: hope your heads are nodding in agreement!

The benefits of consolidating the sales management responsibilities under my purview are substantial for both the company and the whole Davidson team. Of course, consolidating the sales function is more efficient and cost-effective. But there are even greater benefits than the cost savings. Having day-to-day responsibility for the sales function keeps my finger on the pulse of the Jacksonville, FL real estate market so our company is able to respond quickly to market needs and changes. I’ve already seen the benefits in coaching agents as it’s influenced our marketing choices, CDPE training efforts and other decisions.

Better communication with our agents has given us great insight and ideas! Frankly, during the toughest real estate market our company has faced, being more hands-on in the sales arena has been integral to our overall company health and prosperity. Looking ahead, I relish the opportunity to work one-on-one with all our talented and dedicated agents. I look forward to hearing your ideas, challenges and feedback. And I am committed to providing you the support and guidance you need to succeed. My door is always open.

DSC_0137Pardon our cheering but sometimes you just have to grab the bullhorn and get the word out!  Check out these 5 things to know about our Jacksonville FL real estate company and you’ll understand our enthusiasm.  Don’t get us wrong, things could definitely be better for the real estate market, but we are proud of the following:

1. In the past 12 months, our Agent staff has doubled.
2. We continue to be the biggest lister in World Golf Village, and now we’re the top lister in Palencia too.
3. Our reach has expanded beyond St. Johns County and St. Augustine to include Jacksonville Beach, Ponte Vedra and even Flagler County.
4. According to the Jacksonville Business Journal, Davidson Realty is now among the top 10 real estate agencies in the area.
5. Most of our Agents now hold CDPE (Certified Distressed Property Expert) designations, so they can shrewdly advise clients on the ins and outs of today’s market, including short sales and foreclosures.
