Master Plan to Enhance The National Shooting Complex Facilities for the 40,000 NSSA Members

October 28, 2010

 |

rickEveryone knows not to mess with Texas. Yet, Jim Davidson and I never shy away from a good challenge. Case in point, we have been providing pro-bono planning and design expertise for the National Shooting Complex (NSC) located in Bexar County, San Antonio, Texas for the past few years. The 671 acre site is the home of the National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA, founded 1928) and the National Sporting Clays Association (NSCA, founded 1989). The NSC hosts the shooting-sports’ most prestigious annual competitions, including the NSCA National Championships and the World Skeet Championships (World Shoot), celebrating their 75th anniversary Shoot at the October, 2010 event.

The NSC-held competitions are supported by all of the major national and international firearms and shooting equipment manufacturers, who typically are on-site for the Shoots, offering merchandise, repair, instruction and expert advice and recommendations. The World Shoots draw competitors from many countries around the world, including Australia, South Africa, England, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Spain and Argentina. Any given Shoot can have thousands of competitors, spectators and sporting aficionados all in attendance.

Jim and his wife and partner, Sherry Davidson, are both competitive shooters and life members of the NSSA. Jim was recruited in 2007 by the NSC Long Range Planning Committee, directed by Ms. Louise K. Terry, past president of the NSSA. Jim was asked to provide counsel when they were contemplating a land purchase offer that would have required them to move. Subsequently, another offer was made to the NSC to locate the American headquarters of a German gun maker on the property. In the fall of 2009, Jim and I visited the NSC to fully examine those proposals and to illustrate the opportunities afforded the NSC, the NSSA and the NSCA should they decide to stay put and continue operating on their well-located and beautiful property. sherrySo, last month I explained to you all that I was being called a “Negative Nancy” at work, but I have received tons of great feedback for providing you with the TRUE market stats instead of trying to put a positive slant on the information. So this month, I’m hitting you with the facts again! I am providing a table from the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors (NEFAR) statistics, so I don’t have to be positive or negative – you choose how to look at it!

One of the Greatest – Meet Ms. Jennifer Todd

October 22, 2010

 |

jenniferJennifer Todd is a woman that lights up a room! Her personality cannot be matched and here at Davidson, we can’t get enough! If you haven’t had the pleasure to meet Jennifer, let me give you a little background information…

Jennifer is known for her ability to sell new home construction. She has worked for Brylen Homes, Arthur Rutenburg, Bourre Construction Group, and Woodside Homes. She began working at Davidson Realty in 2008 and we couldn’t be happier to have her.

When I think about Jennifer, I think about fun. I thought a great way to highlight her and let the people who know and love her here at Davidson get creative in describing her was to give them a mad lib to fill out about her characteristics. Here is what I got back:

No one is more southern than Jennifer Todd. If I had to describe her in two words, I’d say she’s  charming and confident. No one does builder sales like Jennifer.

No one is more knowledgeable on custom homes than Jennifer Todd. If I had to describe her in two words, I’d say she’s tenacious and savvy. No one does research on market values or ownership status like Jennifer.

No one is more confident than Jennifer Todd. If I had to describe her in two words, I’d say she’s knowledgeable and connected. No one does builder sales like Jennifer. Read more

Let’s March for Babies!

October 19, 2010

 |

March of Dimes photos 2009What do you have planned on Saturday, November 6th?  If you want to enjoy the cooler weather, company of your friends and support an important cause, then I have the event for you!  March of Dimes is an organization that provides support for many families in OUR community.  They are dedicated to improving the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

I have participated in the annual fundraiser walk, March for Babies, for March of Dimes for the past 3 years. I truly look forward to this wonderful Saturday morning. The energy of the people that participate is unbelievable! When you arrive this year at 8 a.m. to register, there will be a D.J. and Joy Purdy from Channel 12 to get our spirits up.  Since America runs on Dunkin Donuts, we will be marching on Dunkin Donuts’ fabulous coffee. After we get done with our walk, Firehouse Subs is providing lunch.  There will be carnival games with prizes for the children. And, to top it off, the Bluebell ice cream truck will be there with dessert!

We start at the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind and “march” 4.5 miles through the historic district of St. Augustine. If you have never been to downtown St. Augustine, it is such a beautiful area.  Please come and join Davidson Realty’s team!

If you would like more information, please call 904-940-5000 or http://www.marchforbabies.org/team/t1354247.  To see what March for Babies is and why we are walking you can check this YouTube video out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQ1CsZbjY0g. Please bring a $10 donation for the cure. March of Dimes spends $.76 for every dollar donated. We hope to see you there!

Learn about the Latest and Greatest Flooring & Home Design Trends at the Davidson Speaker Series on October 28th

October 11, 2010

 |

Have you seen the new ceramic tile flooring that looks like planks of hardwood?  Two of my neighbors recently installed it in their homes and I’m having major bouts of floor envy!    You bet I will be asking Richard of About Floors N’ More all about it at the next Davidson Speaker Series.  We hope you’ll join us too on Thursday, October 28th at 7:00 pm as Richard Scherzer from About Floors N’ More presents “Updating Your House” as part of our ongoing Davidson Speaker Series. Richard will discuss bathroom remodels, kitchen remodels, new types of flooring, the latest products, home fashion trends, and what to avoid when hiring a contractor. He can also answer  burning questions like Which type of flooring will best stand the test of time?, What tile trends are hot for bathrooms?, Which kitchen counter surface is most resilient? and What new trends should I jump on before my neighbors?.

The Davidson Speaker Series is a monthly event held at the Davidson Realty office at World Golf Village. It is free to the public. The Davidson Speaker Series was started by Sherry Davidson, President, Davidson Realty, Inc. so that local professionals could share their expertise with neighbors from World Golf Village, Palencia, Murabella, Kensington, Heritage Landing and the surrounding community. Wine and cheese are served and the event is held at the Davidson Realty offices, located at World Golf Village just across from Publix.
