Rick Pariani web rOn Thursday, March 25, 2010, I invite you to please join your neighbors and friends at the next Davidson Speaker Series event, to be held at the Davidson Realty Building, gateway to the World Golf Village.  A wine and cheese gathering in the courtyard will commence at 7:00PM, followed by a presentation with plenty of opportunity for questions and answers.  The presentation will focus on landscaping for enhancement, entertaining and value creation from the WGV perspective with specifics on plant selection, plant placement, soil characteristics, water regimes, plant management, protection and maintenance.

This represents a unique opportunity to take advantage of Ms. Terry DelValle’s ability to participate with us here in St. Johns County.  Terry is the Agriculture Program leader and Urban Horticulture Agent for the Duval County Extension service and has over 30 years of professional horticultural experience with the north Florida region.  Terry is an accomplished educator and practitioner with an expertise in the principles of implementing “Florida-Friendly Landscaping”.  She is a regular column contributor to the Jacksonville Times-Union newspaper.

Joining Terry will be Mr. Craig Hartwig, owner of North Florida Landscape and Mr. Jay Jernigan, St. Augustine regional director for Nanak’s Landscaping.  Craig has been instrumental in the landscape implementation at World Golf Village, since 1997.  He was responsible for the majority of the WGV common area landscape construction and has prepared and installed numerous home landscape designs throughout the community.  Craig has honed his knowledge and expertise of our area through his impressive portfolio of work.  Jay began his involvement with WGV in 1998 and has been the leading steward for care and maintenance ever since.  He has a deep and devoted commitment to the beauty of World Golf Village, extending his energies to ensure the highest level of best management practices and overall landscape maintenance.

I will serve as your presentation coordinator, introducing the session with an overview of the World Golf Village style and our thematic planting approach.  I have been associated with World Golf Village, from its inception in 1988, being responsible for project planning, programming and theming, neighborhood site design, landscape design and common area design, as well as directing and guiding the hardscape, signage, monumentation, lighting and tree planting efforts that help distinguish the character and attractiveness of our place.

I hope that you will be able to join us for this special event.  We hope it will be the perfect introduction to your forthcoming spring projects and winter-remediation concerns.  We will be available for your questions and inquiries during and after the presentations and we very much look forward to helping you make the most of your home and property.

We will have some choice plant publications available for your use and libraries.
