Davidson Does Baskets & Blooms!

April 27, 2011

 |

DSC04717Last night, the Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village hosted Baskets & Blooms, an annual tri-school fundraiser for Mill Creek Elementary, Wards Creek Elementary and Pacetti Bay Middle School. In the three schools, each classroom donated a basket worth $100. Each school donated a basket worth $500. The PTO and PTSO collected donated items to raffle from Orlando all the way to Georgia.

DSC04705As a way to help the schools, Davidson Realty worked with a few of our World Golf Village businesses to put together a basket to be raffled at the event.  We named the basket “Spoil Me in WGV”. Honours Golf donated a foursome of golf at Slammer & Squire. Spa Laterra donated the Revitalization Spa package to pamper the winner with a pedicure, manicure and facial. If that wasn’t enough “spoiling”, our basket contained 4 IMAX tickets and 4 putting, Hall of Fame and Challenge Hole passes. The Village Chiropractic Center donated a one hour massage. Murray Bros Caddyshack gave a gift certificate, too. Davidson Realty donated Neighbhorhood of World Golf Village wine glasses and a tote bag. Thank you so much to the businesses that helped us raise money for the schools!

DSC04711Davidson Realty President Sherry Davidson joined agents and staff for a chance to win one of the many fabulous baskets at the event. The baskets ranged from Disney and Universal passes, golf and spa packages, patio furniture worth $7,000, beach baskets, pamper me packages, bundle of joy packages, etc! Talk about one of the social events of the year; it was soooo much fun! Mostly women attended, but there were a few ladies that brought their men (probably to carry all their baskets to the car!) It was such a wonderful evening. The Renaissance did a great job hosting the event. The food and service were awesome. Several Nease High School students volunteered to be the “basket runners.” The PTO and PTSO did an amazing job at making this event such a success! Way to go Ladies!!!

If you missed Baskets & Blooms this year, make sure you make it to next years. The night was a 10 for sure!!!

Davidson Appreciates Teachers Announces Winners! Congratulations to Ms. Ledford and Ms. Kenyon!

March 18, 2011

My daughter entered the St. Johns County school system in August of 2010. My expectations were exceeded in every aspect from the technology in the classrooms and even the detail into making sure that the children are placed into the “right” learning environment. Since day one, I have been so impressed with Wards Creek Elementary. Our friends that have children in Mill Creek Elementary feel the same way! After becoming one of the moms that talk about the schools and everything going on in our St. Johns County communities, I started thinking about a way we could give back to the teachers that make such a difference in our children’s lives. That’s how we developed the “Davidson Appreciates Teachers” campaign. We have made it through the first quarter focusing on pre-k, kindergarten and first grade. It has been such an amazing experience!

184860_10150425359295385_243700390384_17202004_6571610_nI received over 75 nominations for teachers. The top 3 teachers from Wards Creek were Ms. Kenyon, Ms. Bielfeldt and Ms. Fisher. The top 3 teachers from Mill Creek were Ms. Ledford, Ms. Peska and Ms. Stewart. Over 200 votes were placed on Davidson Realty’s Facebook page for the top teachers. The winner for Wards Creek is Ms. Kenyon and the winner for Mill Creek is Ms. Ledford! Congratulations to both of them!!!184277_10150425361330385_243700390384_17202029_717259_n

I wrote a blog about the teachers at Wards Creek and Mill Creek being “bucket fillers”, so I thought it would be fun to fill some buckets with some goodies for the winning teachers. Thank you to Kathy Howell, store manager of Crocs. They donated new shoes for the teachers. I would like to also thank Andy Murray from Caddyshack’s for donating a gift certificate for each bucket. Thank you to Davidson Realty for the generous gift cards to Target and the other goodies that filled up the buckets! And last but not least, I would like to thank all of you for the time you spent nominating, voting and helping us fill the buckets of the teachers at Wards Creek and Mill Creek Elementary.

On April 1st we begin 2nd Quarter. This time we are focusing on 2nd and 3rd grade! So, get your nominations ready and send them to me, Kristen Calhoun at kcalhoun@davidsonrealtyinc.com or call me at 904.940.5000. Please share with me why you think your teacher is the best and enjoy our video blog!

Women’s Mixer – Cosmos, Vendors, & Women Specialists!

March 15, 2011

 |

cosmoOne of the fun aspects of my job involves working with the creative team at Davidson Realty. Somewhere in between a work lunch and a mimosa, a few of my favorite ladies and I decided we were turning our lunch into March’s Davidson Speaker Series. I bet you wonder how we pulled this off, well, let me share with you how this all unfolded. We were talking about how much fun ladies have when they get together and how much we share helpful tips and benefit from each other’s experiences. As lunch continued and on to dessert, we started talking about how there are a lot of things we want to know about, but we don’t take the time to get the info or we are too embarrassed to find out.

We came up with the fabulous idea to host a “Women’s Mixer”. We invited different women to come and give a short spiel about their specialties. If you have ever wanted to find out about laser hair removal, this is your chance! Laser Hair Removal by Kim will be here to answer any questions. We also have Metabolic Research coming if you are interested in learning about their Meta-HCG weight loss drops.

Not only will we be drinking Cosmos like the famous ladies from Sex and the City, we will also be getting girly. We have consultants from Silpada, Mary Kay, Go Fish, Fresh Perspectives, and Thirty-One. The photographer from Cousart Studios will be here with specials for you in case you are in need of some new family photos or business headshots.

If you have spring cleaning on your mind, but don’t want to start, talk to Michelle Petrarca from U Need Me. Without a doubt, she is the woman to get you on track! Maybe you are interested in redoing a room in your home; Interiors Revitalized can help you with that! We have something for everyone – giveaways, jewelry, delicious food, and all kinds of specials from your favorite vendors!

Save the date for March 31st at 7 p.m. to come to Davidson Realty and get your “WOMAN” on! The event is free, but vendors will be selling! Hope to see you there!

Healthy Meals on a Budget – February Davidson Speaker Series

February 15, 2011

 |

IMG_0378If you haven’t come to a Davidson Speaker Series, then this is the month you will want to join us. We have one of these events on the last Thursday of every month. It begins with wine and cheese at 7 P.M. We invite guests to come and speak about topics we know you are interested in! This month isn’t any different. Chef Tasha Peters will be doing a cooking demo on how to eat sensibly and affordably.

Let me give you a little background about Tasha. She is originally from Savannah, so you know she can cook that good ol’ Southern food! Tasha’s palate is so diverse; she grew up in a military family, living all over the world. Tasha learned to appreciate the eclectic cuisine from the locals.

WBC 5th Anniv 013AChef Tasha has worked in the food industry for twenty years. Five years ago, she decided to open her own business, Big Mouth Catering and Personal Chef Service. Tasha customizes menus for busy professionals. She has helped many people achieve their weight loss goals by helping with proportions and diet. Not only did she excel as a personal chef, but also as a caterer. In addition to family meal planning and dinner parties, Tasha has designed and executed parties for up to 200 guests.  One of Tasha’s favorite ways to exceed client’s expectations is with a romantic dinner for two in their home where she designs a perfect menu, prepares and serves a romantic dinner.

Now she is off on a new endeavor with her husband Marshall Peters. They are opening up a restaurant in St. Augustine Beach called “The Groove”. It is located in the quaint Sea Grove Town Center at 128 Sea Grove Main St.  The Groove is a fast, casual restaurant serving fresh salads, Panini’s, flat breads, craft beers and wines. The Groove caters to special diets such as gluten free and Vegan. It opens on April 30th!

So, come have a glass of wine and delicious food with me on February 24th at 7 p.m. at the Davidson Realty building! We need an r.s.v.p. for this one, so email Peyton at pdavidson@davidsonrealtyinc.com or call 904-940-5000.

How Full is Your Bucket? Davidson Appreciates Teachers

February 10, 2011

 |

how-full-is-your-bucketHave you ever been asked if you are a “bucket-filler” or a “bucket-tipper”? If you’re a “bucket-filler” you choose to make other people happy. And, if you do that, you fill your own bucket with happiness in return. On the other hand, if you are a “bucket-tipper” you make other people sad and it ends up emptying your own bucket too. The teachers at Wards Creek and Mill Creek are bucket-fillers. Davidson Realty is doing a year-long contest called “Davidson Appreciates Teachers”. We have split it up into 4 quarters recognizing the different grades and support staff. I have been truly touched by the emails and phone calls I have received in the past month.

Every email and phone call nominating the teachers from Pre-k, Kindergarten and First Grade from the two schools has filled my bucket! Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles have taken the time to share their gratitude for the experience their child has in Mill Creek and Wards Creek. For many parents, they are describing their first experience in the school district. How amazing is it that we live in a community with such high quality schools! We have confidence in our schools to help us raise our children to be responsible adults that give back to our community and be productive in our society. After all…it takes a village!
