I have participated in the walk for the last 4 years with Davidson Realty. Davidson Realty has been participating for the past 16 years. Registration starts at 8 a.m. at the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind. The views from the school over the Intracostal are absolutely beautiful! The energy from the participants is guaranteed to warm your heart and put a smile on your face.  To top that off Dunkin Donuts will get you going on (my favorite) coffee and donuts. There is a DJ and Joy Purdy from First Coast News is the MC.

I can’t tell you what the weather is going to be like because two years ago we were in shorts and t-shirts. Last year we wore warm jackets, gloves and hats. But I can tell you that you will absolutely enjoy the 3 mile walk through the historic district of downtown St. Augustine. My daughter, Audrey, was 6 and walked the entire walk! Throughout the walk, we get water and treats from the Boy Scouts.  When we get back to the school, Five Star Pizza is providing lunch and Blue Bell ice cream will be there with dessert. Awards are given for the money raised. By noon, you will be done and moved on to the rest of your weekend. But I promise you that starting your weekend off “right” will be so fulfilling. Arriving at 8 a.m. it wasn’t too early for fabulous cupcakes from Lulu’s and donuts from Dunkins! As we got our coffee on, we could feel the energy in the air, not only from my teammates but from the many other teams that surrounded us.  Joy Purdy, a new mother herself, was the MC.  She sure did know how to get us warmed up. As I was eating my (first) donut, Joy got the party going with the Cha Cha Slide. Although I didn’t participate, my eldest daughter, Audrey, was not afraid to get her groove on!

Although the temps were cooler than normal, it didn’t stop the Davidson Team from supporting a cause we believe in. The fundraiser walk goes through the historic streets of downtown St. Augustine. One aspect that makes the walk so enjoyable is the scenery and details in the old houses and the mature Oaks and Palms that shade the walkers.  There are always sponsors along the way to pass out drinks and healthy food. The Boy Scouts of America held up sweet signs to support the walkers!

Since 1970, March for Babies has been raising money to help mothers have healthy full-term pregnancies and fund research.  This year, the Davidson Team of St. Augustine Realtors won an award for raising over $1,000.  Thank you to all of the walkers and those who donated to our team! We really appreciate it! We hope you will plan to join us next year. The walk is always the first Saturday in November.

I have participated in the annual fundraiser walk, March for Babies, for March of Dimes for the past 3 years. I truly look forward to this wonderful Saturday morning. The energy of the people that participate is unbelievable! When you arrive this year at 8 a.m. to register, there will be a D.J. and Joy Purdy from Channel 12 to get our spirits up.  Since America runs on Dunkin Donuts, we will be marching on Dunkin Donuts’ fabulous coffee. After we get done with our walk, Firehouse Subs is providing lunch.  There will be carnival games with prizes for the children. And, to top it off, the Bluebell ice cream truck will be there with dessert!

 We start at the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind and “march” 4.5 miles through the historic district of St. Augustine. If you have never been to downtown St. Augustine, it is such a beautiful area.  Please come and join Davidson Realty’s team!

March of Dimes does amazing work to help mothers have healthy, full-term pregnancies and prevent babies from being born sick or too soon. The non-profit foundation funds research and is responsible for many scientific breakthroughs in genetics and prenatal health. They do a March for Babies walk through downtown St. Augustine every year to raise awareness and fund the research that is so necessary to keep our babies healthy!

This year, the 4.5 mile walk will take place on Saturday, November 7th starting at the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind. Registration time is at 8 am and the walk begins at 9 am. Davidson Realty had over 80 walkers last year and hopes to have a great turn out this year as well. Even if you can’t walk, please go to our March of Dimes page and donate!
