Work in Real Estate: Why our Agents Love Their Career!

First, we covered how to start your career in real estate with a video from Davidson Realty President, Sherry Davidson explaining the cost of getting licensed, how to get licensed, and earning potential in the industry. Now, we want to share why some of our agents chose a real estate career and why they love what they do!

In the video above, you will hear from Maxine Levy, Carly Weddle, Robin Rawald, and Doug Duggan. Every one of our agents has a different reason for what led them to real estate and what makes them so happy doing it. Some of them are new to real estate and some of them are experienced. I think they can all agree that making their own hours is a definite perk of the job!

The Davidson Companies Not Only Survived, But Shined in 09!

DSCN0363I don’t know if it was the large crowd of agents and staff that showed up to our company awards banquet or the survivor theme that made it so fun, but we all had a great time celebrating our hard work in 2009!

The night started off by recognizing people that have been with the company for five years; Lyn Sappington, Dottie Lay, Bob Lay, Jeannie Sockwell, Doug Duggan and Laura Hendricks. The company would not be the same without them!

Davidson Realty’s mission is to “Value People First…Before, Over and Above Everything Else”, so we thought it would be perfect to acknowledge the people in our office that do that best! The agents awarded were voted on by all our agents and staff. Beverly Morse and Dottie Lay were honored as “Most Exemplifies our Core Values”. Carol vonRabenstein was awarded “Values People First” and Mirtha Barzaga was recognized for going “Above and Beyond” for anyone who needs it.

Pauline Cake was recognized for over 5 million in closings and Dottie Lay for over 4 million in closings. Doug Duggan, Carol vonRabenstein, Ted Tyndall, and Jock Ochiltree had over 3 million in closings. And, Jennifer Todd, Mirtha Barzaga, Beverly Morse, and Suzy Evans got over 2 million in closings. Get a Jump Start on Your New Years Resolution

Doug DugganInclude me as one of the many who have started counting calories in an effort to lose a few pounds this new year.  Less than a week in, and I could certainly use some advice, motivation and frankly, a kick in the tush.  That’s why I’ll be hightailing it to Doug Duggan’s Health & Fitness seminar on January 21st and hope you will, too.  A former Olympic weightlifter, Doug will cover a variety of fitness topics, including how to fit fitness into a busy lifestyle, and how to achieve a balanced physical fitness program.

Most of you know Doug as an experienced real estate pro, but you may not know that he  competed as a Weightlifter from 1955 to 2000, and spent 11 years as a certified personal trainer and owner of a gym in St. Simon’s Island, Georgia. (more…)

Davidson Realty Agents Recognized

Davidson Realty really has a remarkable team of sales agents and support staff. Each month we like to take the opportunity to recognize a few of them. This month, we’d like to congratulate Jock Ochiltree for selling the most homes in September. Although this is a wonderful claim to fame, one of Jock’s other notable accomplishments is playing golf on over 400 courses in 14 countries.

Davidson Realty’s top producer in September was Doug Duggan with over $1.3 million in volume. We must give an honorable mention in this category to Beverly Morse who was a very close second with $1,278,500 in volume.

Finally, the top lister for the month was Lyn Sappington. And she has played almost as many golf courses as Jock, including Ballybunion, Old Course and Pebble Beach. (more…)

Featured Agent: Doug Duggan

Doug DugganFrom dreams of Olympic weightlifting to top real estate agent, Doug Duggan has done it all! When looking for someone with expertise, you won’t find anyone in Northeast Florida with a wider variety than Doug. His experience gained through travels, professions and hobbies make him an expert at many things.

Doug has traveled in all 50 states and over 40 other countries. He has lived in 8 states and chooses to call Royal Pines in World Golf Village home.  He and his wife, Terressa, who have 3 children and 11 grandchildren, recently returned from their 27th cruise and can hardly wait for next years!

December, 2009 marks 55 years of versatility in the workforce for Doug. He has truly tried it all, from 16 years of aircraft engineering and top secret computer programming for the Strategic Air Command to 11 years as a certified personal trainer and owner of his own gym.
