Voting came to a close for the 4th Quarter of the Davidson Appreciates Teachers Contest on March 15th and once again we saw an outpouring of support for our amazing St. Johns County teachers! This time around, we celebrated our fantastic resource teachers at Mill Creek and Wards Creek Elementary School. Even though they are all winners, Ms. Dowdie and Ms. Rose came out on top.
We surprised Mill Creek Elementary School Computer Teacher, Ms. Dowdie on the school news show early Monday morning. Unfortunately, Wards Creek Elementary School’s Music Teacher, Ms. Rose is out town, but she has a wonderful basket of goodies waiting on her when she returns! (more…)

Mrs. Davis and Lucas – Our Back to School Coloring Contest Winners
Beginning the school year is not always an easy task. Getting the supplies, the clothes, physicals and the paperwork done can be quite a challenge, but there is something to be said for the regimen that a new school year offers a family. For one, it is a new beginning, an opportunity for the whole family to grow and become wiser. Maybe wiser to how much growth your child has made over the summer. I look at my daughters and am in awe of not just their physical growth, but their intellectual strides as well. Not only do our kiddos need new clothes, but new books too! That’s why Davidson Realty came up with a contest to help Mill Creek Elementary and Wards Creek Elementary students have an opportunity to win $50 gift card to Barnes & Noble for a student and their teacher. The winning student was Lucas Kleiber in Mrs. Davis’s first grade class at Wards Creek Elementary. Congrats Lucas!!! What a sweetie he is.
Giving Lucas and Mrs. Davis their gift certificates was a fun adventure. Lucas and I got to be guests on the afternoon news show. I shared with the students that starting today, October 3rd, I would begin taking nominations for 4th and 5th grade teachers at Mill Creek and Wards Creek for the 3rd Quarter of the Davidson Appreciates Teachers Contest. One student couldn’t wait though - Meenal Deshmukh from Mill Creek nominated Mrs. Jackson because “she is a wonderful teacher who makes the classroom learning exciting and fun. She motivates the students to go above and beyond to perform their level best!” WOW! That is AWESOME! My daughter entered the St. Johns County school system in August of 2010. My expectations were exceeded in every aspect from the technology in the classrooms and even the detail into making sure that the children are placed into the “right” learning environment. Since day one, I have been so impressed with Wards Creek Elementary. Our friends that have children in Mill Creek Elementary feel the same way! After becoming one of the moms that talk about the schools and everything going on in our St. Johns County communities, I started thinking about a way we could give back to the teachers that make such a difference in our children’s lives. That’s how we developed the “Davidson Appreciates Teachers” campaign. We have made it through the first quarter focusing on pre-k, kindergarten and first grade. It has been such an amazing experience!
I received over 75 nominations for teachers. The top 3 teachers from Wards Creek were Ms. Kenyon, Ms. Bielfeldt and Ms. Fisher. The top 3 teachers from Mill Creek were Ms. Ledford, Ms. Peska and Ms. Stewart. Over 200 votes were placed on Davidson Realty’s Facebook page for the top teachers. The winner for Wards Creek is Ms. Kenyon and the winner for Mill Creek is Ms. Ledford! Congratulations to both of them!!!
I wrote a blog about the teachers at Wards Creek and Mill Creek being “bucket fillers”, so I thought it would be fun to fill some buckets with some goodies for the winning teachers. Thank you to Kathy Howell, store manager of Crocs. They donated new shoes for the teachers. I would like to also thank Andy Murray from Caddyshack’s for donating a gift certificate for each bucket. Thank you to Davidson Realty for the generous gift cards to Target and the other goodies that filled up the buckets! And last but not least, I would like to thank all of you for the time you spent nominating, voting and helping us fill the buckets of the teachers at Wards Creek and Mill Creek Elementary.
